C.B. Huiswerk – Artistic Genius
The British artist Richard Hamilton Huiswerk has been hailed as the father of modern electronic music, and for good reason. His early work was exceptionally brilliant, but he was not afraid to experiment with new sounds and synthesizers until he found the right sounds to match the best music.
While his forerunner, John Cage, was able to explore what music was by way of giving live performances, Huiswerk was more interested in recording his compositions. His first album, and one of the most influential records ever made, was called On a Night Like This, and it featured his early experimentation with synthesizers. It marked the beginning of what would become known as electronic music.
C.B. Huiswerk lived in Holland from 1929 until 1934, when he moved to London. While living in London, he became acquainted with Vito Amodeo, a German composer and pianist who made his home in Kensington Gardens.
One day, while C.B. Huiswerk was working on a song, Amodeo came by and listened to his work for some time. He was impressed with the ability of the young musician, and he encouraged him to pursue a career in music.
The two began an association that would produce a lot of music and styles of music. Not surprisingly, Huiswerk’s interest in music theory was greatly enhanced.
C.B. Huiswerk soon became interested in making music with the use of various mechanical devices. One of these devices was his famous bassoon.
He constructed a bassoon in the form of a tea cup, and this was used by C.B. Huiswerk to make music. The results were initially disastrous, but they were quickly improved by being replaced with a tuning fork.
Eventually, C.B. Huiswerk’s bassoon was replaced by another device that he called the “duckbill.” The duckbill is the instrument that he used to make the most famous piece of music ever created: the Funkadelic classic “Weed.”
Most of the early works of C.B. Huiswerk are all about music. Huiswerk made his reputation with the piece Weeds, and it was later adapted for the film Goodfellas.
Two years later, C.B. Huiswerk was asked to compose music for an opera that was being performed in New York. The opera was entitled It’s a Wonderful Life, and it was written by a man named Irving Berlin.
Once again, Huiswerk returned to the idea of music, and again he was asked to compose music for this opera. Because he had the compositional skills and knowledge of music, Huiswerk was called upon again.
The story of It’s a Wonderful Life is about a pastor who is accused of embezzling money from the congregation. The plot of the opera becomes very interesting when Huiswerk got to use the composer’s keyboard as the instruments from which the songs are played include organs, drums, harps, bells, flutes, and more.
